It was a successful day filled packed full of fishing advice from Mack's Pro Angler, Jaime Rodriguez "J Rod", who is well-known for his extensive knowledge of the Columbia River and his amiable, approachable style.

Anglers who take a guided trip with J Rod kick off their day with a leisurely trolling experience in the Wallula Lake pool, right above the McNary Dam. As the trip progresses, anglers learn the secrets of luring in steelhead with jigs beneath floats. J Rod does an excellent job of offering lots of practical advice on gear and approaches, making the trip an ideal chance for anglers to hone their skills.
As the day goes on, J Rod turns his focus to the Columbia River's lower reaches beneath McNary Dam to target his favorite species, walleye, which are known to be abundant in this area. Along the way, many anglers will go home with a few perch, which is a tasty way to cap off a fun adventure.
J Rod relies on tried and true methods, like the Mack's Smile Blades when he's drawing in Walleye, and Rock Dancer jigs when he's targeting steelhead. On the trip featured in the episode above, he offered tips on how to use these particular lures to catch the larger fish.
